Tata Sumo Gold Features, Price, and Specification 2021

In February 2012 Tata launched the Sumo Gold; it’s a facelift of the old Sumo Victa that introduces the 3.0 CR4 four-cylinder diesel engines called Dicor with common rail and direct injection, 16 valves capable of 85 horsepower and 250 Nm of maximum torque. The old 3.0 turbo diesel engine with direct injection without common rail delivered 70 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque rest in production. Inside are introduced new fabrics, new air conditioning controls and new instrumentation in addition to faux briar finish. Mechanically, the braking system is improved and new shock absorbers make the ride less rigid.

The last facelift come in October 2013. Tata Motors update the interior with a new radio CD and MP3, dual zone A/C and new color and sticker for the body. Production of the Sumo Gold ceased in April 2019.

Price & Variants:

Last recorded price of Tata Sumo Gold was 5.26 Lakh; but overall the price ranges from 6.56 Lakhs to 8.96 Lakhs. Sumo Gold is available in 11 variants. All the variants are Manual. Sumo Gold is offered in 3 colors: Porcelain White, Arctic White and Platinum Silver. However, some of these colors are available in specific versions.

The Tata Sumo has 3 Diesel Engine on offer. The Diesel engine is 2956 cc and 1978 cc and 1948 cc. It is available with the Manual transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the Sumo has a mileage of 14.07 to 15.3 kmpl. Acceleration (0-100 kmph) is 27.6 seconds.

3. Brakes & Suspension:

Tata Sumo Gold has Disc Brakes on its front for a better friction control, rear brake is drum type.

About the suspension system, Sumo comes with 2 types of suspensions. Double WishBone Type with Coil Springs & Anti Roll Bar on Front and the rear side set with Salistury Type Beam Rear Axles with ParabolicLeat Spring & Anti Roll Bar suspension.

4. Drive train:

Sumo Gold is a Rear Wheel Drive and has Same Steering and Steering gear type which is Power Steering. The Turning Radius is about 5.0 meters.

5. Comfort Features:

Comfort goodies packed in the SUV include Keyless Entry, dual AC, heater system, power assisted steering, power windows in front & rear, rear defogger and magazine pocket & bottle holder in front door. Other than these, it also gets voice messaging system, floor console with hand brake, 12 V outlets on centre console, anti-glare rear view mirror, cup holders on glove box lid and mobile holder.

6. Interior & Exterior:

Inside, it accommodates seven people with two additional seats at the back. There is also an option for a nine-seat layout across variants. Interior styling is suave with chunky dials, buttons and wood finish on the console. The cabin however is comfortable in terms of space and gets a roof-mounted dual air-conditioner and a couple of other provisions. Fabric Upholstery and the Glove compartment look stunning, completing wholesome. Electronic Multi-Tripmeter & Odometer looks very hardy and moderate. 7. Safety:

Not just looks and power train, Sumo Gold is also very much safe with Child Safety Lock, Warning features and Impact Beams on both sides. There is an adjustable seat and Passenger side rear view mirror in the Sumo Gold. Brake Assist is mounted in some of the variants. The Fuel tank is mounted in the centre to reduce post-collision damage.
