Overview
From the above table, we can see that there are many cars that exceeded even the 100% increase in their sales. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki sits in the top places. Along with that, we have Tata and Mahindra who have gained names in this list.
To begin with the Apex, we have Wagon R, Swift, and Baleno. All three names are from Maruti Suzuki. These hatchbacks are one of the most loved ones. In fact, Wagon R, even after almost 15 years of its release, still holds a valuable place. However, when we talk about their Growth YoY% we would observe something different.
Even though Swift has the second position in the Top Selling Units, it has the highest growth YoY% which is 341%. In other words, it saw a three hundred times increase in its normal sale for June 2021. As compared to 4,013 units sold in June 2020, over 17,700 units sold in June 2021. Further, talking of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, again it saw a 241% increase, from last year. In fact, only 4,300 units were sold in June 2020 as compared to 14,701 in June 2021.
Earlier in 2020, June saw ups and downs.
However, in 2021, there was an overall growth in automobile sales. In the same way, our SUVs also saw ultimate three-fold growth. Topping the charts in SUVs also, was Maruti Suzuki. In short, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga saw a great increase in their monthly selling units. Further looking at the numbers, Brezza sold 12,833 units in June 2021 as compared to the 4,542 in June 2020. Therefore, Brezza managed to see 182% YoY growth. Generally, such growth is highly appreciable for the Motor companies. Coupled with this is the unexpected growth of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. As compared to other chartbusters, it is newer to the market. However, it showed an absolute 200% increase from June 2020 to 2021.
Furthermore, Maruti brought up Dzire, SPresso, Ignis, and EECO which also performed well in terms of growth. Meanwhile, Hyundai has 4 cars in the Top 20 list as well. In fact, it has undergone a great change for good. Hyundai Creta just saw a 37% YoY growth. On the other hand, i10 NIOS and i20 saw 134% and 144% YoY growth. Moreover, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and Mahindra XUV300 were also among the top scorers. Ford saw 183% YoY growth, as compared to Tata Nexon’s 164% for their new models. In addition, Maruti Suzuki EECO saw an unexpected growth of 142%. While it sold 3,803 models in 2020, in 2021, it sold 9,218 models. This number is quite huge.
Besides Maruti Suzuki, only Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai could make it to the list. However, the density of each is far less than Maruti Suzuki. In conclusion this analysis it is clear that June 2021 was a jolly year for Carmakers. Of course, Maruti Suzuki was the showstopper; at the same time, Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai saw decent growth.
