Ekta Kapoor and her Impeccable Collection of Luxury Cars
Ekta Kapoor is one of Bollywood’s most renowned and popular producers. She owns the production company Balaji Telefilms, of which she is the Creative and Joint Managing Director. Ekta Kapoor has produced numerous TV shows, some names being Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Hum Paanch, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein among others. She has both produced and directed movies like Kyo Kii… Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta, followed by Kucch To Hai and many others.
Apart from her production company and films, Ekta Kapoor also happens to be a car enthusiast. She owns some of the most luxurious cars in the world. Here is a list of the top-notch cars she owns. Each of these costs around ₹1.2 Crore to ₹2 Crore.
1. Jaguar F-Pace
First launched in 2016, Jaguar’s first performance SUV, the Jaguar F-Pace SUV has a 2-litre L4 cylinder engine that gives upto 184 horsepower, and runs on diesel. A front-wheel-drive car that seats 5, it has an 8-speed automatic transmission and 430 Nm torque, with a mileage of 14.38 kmpl. It can reach a maximum speed of 217 kmph, and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7 seconds.
The F-Pace has a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system called Pivi, which looks great and slick with well-arranged menus and navigation and a high-end sound system. However, these are nowhere near as engaging as found in the new Audi Q5. The seats are large and accommodating with ambient lighting. Rear seats have an electric recline facility but do not have lumbar support. Also, its window switches and steering mounted controls are lacking next to other rivals.
Jaguar’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture makes the car stiff and strong but surprisingly lightweight. The incredible strength offers excellent protection while the reduced weight ensures easy and enhanced handling and braking. The use of aluminium makes it one of the lightest cars in its class.
The F-Pace has a quality suspension. Even though you can hear the suspension working, especially at low speeds, it keeps the car very stable even across undulating paths. Hence, it handles bad roads like a real beast. It has light steering, with a strong front-end grip. It is a great buy for high-end car lovers with its sportscar-like features and luxurious good looks. Its prices start at ₹69.99 lakhs.
2. Mercedes Maybach S500
The Mercedes Maybach S500 has a 3-litre 4633 cc V6 petrol engine that generates 459 bhp and 700 Nm torque. It is a 4-seater Sedan, with an automatic transmission gearbox and has a mileage of 7.81 kmpl. The car can reach a maximum speed of 250 kmph, has a torque of 700 Nm at 1800-3500 rpm, and can go from 0 to 100 kmph in a span of 4.7 seconds.
It is one of the highest-ranking luxury cars on the streets today. With its sporty looks and jaw-dropping interiors, it also has a fantastic infotainment system, COMAND Online Control, touch-sensored exterior door handles, panoramic sunroof, active cornering headlights, massaging front and rear leather seats, which have tablets and foldable tray tables. To match with these are two 10-inch displays, wireless headphones at the rear, and a high-end excellent quality sound system.
Many other stars of Bollywood like Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, and Priyanka Chopra own the Mercedes Maybach S500. Its prices range around about $130,000 or ₹1.86 crores in Indian standard currency.
3. Bentley Continental GT
Ekta Kapoor’s Bentley Continental GT has a 6-litre twin-turbocharged W12 5998 cc engine and an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission gearbox with steering column-mounted gearshift paddles. Bentley is an all-wheel-drive car with a mileage of 10.1 kmpl. And it has a maximum torque of 900 Nm at 1350-4500 rpm with a fuel tank capacity of 90. It can reach up to 318 kmph, and can speed from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.
Car interiors are super-deluxe, with wood-veneers, cool-touch metals (either chrome or high-quality stainless steel), and soft-touch leather. The safety features include ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution System), MSR (Drag Torque Control), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance), and aquaplane detection.
The Bentley Continental GT is currently available in India in four variants: GT V8 (Petrol) at ₹3.29 crore, GT (Petrol) at ₹3.57 crore, GT V8 Convertible (Petrol) at ₹3.64 crores, and GTC (Petrol) at ₹3.91 crores.
Even though it is a luxury yet fun car to drive, this one has high-cost maintenance and a sky-rocketing price besides not being very fuel-efficient.
4. Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Range Rover SUVs are considered the best SUVs in the world. It has a 1997 cc – 5000 cc 8-speed automatic transmission engine and 700 Nm torque at 3500-4000 rpm. It has a mileage of 7.8 kmph, a fuel tank capacity of 105, and seats 5. Its prices range from around 90 lakhs to 1 crore.
Some of the car’s features include a 10-inch Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with 825W Meridian surround sound system, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlamps, and taillamps. The brake and safety features include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, emergency brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, roll stability control, corner brake control, hill launch assist, hill-descent control, and all-terrain progress control.
The Sport comes in four engine options, two each in petrol and diesel. The petrol engine options include a 340PS 3-litre supercharged V6 engine and a 524PS 5-litre supercharged V8 engine whereas the diesel options include a 258PS 3-litre V6 engine and a 340PS 4.4-litre V8 engine. All the engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmission systems and power is sent to the four wheels via a twin-speed transfer box.
The 2018 Range Rover Sport is available in five variants at present: S, SE, HSE, Autobiography, and SVR. Its current prices are in the range of ₹99.48 lakh – ₹1.96 crores. Some rivals of Range Rover Sport include the Toyota Land Cruiser, Maserati Levante, and the Porsche Cayenne.
