Electric vehicles and their different types (2021)

We will talk about the EV i.e., Electric vehicles are eco-friendly. So, basically, EV is an electric machine with its own charging plug. You don’t need to pay fuel prices if you have the EV is in your home.

It is more comfortable to drive having a huge cabin. It controls Air Pollution in nature as it is an electric machine. The vehicle does not create any noise pollution & it saves you from huge maintenance cost.

Different Types of Electric Vehicles:

There are three types of Electric Vehicles as follows:

  1. Battery Electric Vehicle
  2. Hybrid Electric Vehicle
  3. Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle
  • Battery Electric Vehicle

The Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) is a proper all-electric vehicle. It only uses the electric motor & motor controller. 

It doesn’t depend upon the internal source and takes a maximum of around 8 hours to get fully charged. As we know they are eco-friendly with a range from 250kms to 500kms depends on the battery capacity.

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)

The HEV is a combination of both electric as well as fuel vehicle. You can charge it anytime, anywhere & get fuel in it. When you drive a car & uses its braking system the electric energy generated from it.

HEV having different parts in it such as: Thermal system, electric traction motor, power electronic control and so on.

There are some HEV in India such as Toyota Camry hybrid, Toyota Prius hybrid, MARUTI Suzuki, are the few HEV.

  • Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

So, the PHEV charges not only through the braking system but also through the external source. Wow! Isn’t it amazing? 

The PHEV parts are DC Converter, Electric generator, Charge port, Onboard charge, Electric traction motor and so on.

The PHEV are Volvo XC90 T8, MAHINDRA e-VERITO are some option available in India.
