The famous German luxurious car manufacturer- Mercedes-Benz recently launched the locally assembled 2021 S-class sedan in India on 7th October 2021. The Mercedes-Benz S-class is available in two variants. The diesel variant is S-Class S 350D and the petrol variant is S-Class S450 4Matic.

Due to the assembly of the S-class cars in India, their prices have reduced significantly. The diesel version S-class 350d is priced at Rs.1.56 Cr and the petrol version S-Class S450 4Matic is priced at Rs.1.61 Cr.
Design of Mercedes-Benz S-class 2021
Exterior
The exterior design of the all-new S-class is classy and based on the AMG line variant. It has bespoke bumpers and sporty elements in its design- pretty much what Mercedes-Benz is known for. The Mercedes-Benz logo is mounted on the hood of the car and it has the same S-class grille and LED headlamps at the front. Moreover, the new S-class edition has a long wheelbase due to which, it is more than 3 metres in length. So the new S-class stands good in length. Further, the rear of the car has split-LED tail lamps with good detailing.
Overall, the exterior of the all-new S-class is nothing new. It is almost the same design as in the previous versions.
Interior
On the interior, Mercedes-Benz has levelled up the features. This S-class is one of the best cars when it comes to comfort, especially for passengers in the rear.
The S-class features a really good infotainment system that includes a 12.8-inch media display unit with 1,888×1,728 pixels, natural voice integration in 27 languages, 320 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, GPU with 6991 gigaflops. Also, it comes with an MBUX system and rear-seat entertainment screens and tablets with OTT content display among other tech-based highlights. Now, these are definitely some of the coolest features but that’s not the end.
Other than this, the comfort features are the major highlights. Some of the comfort features include massage functionalities on all seats, air purification and fragrance systems, functional ambient lighting, and leather upholstery in three colours.

Engine and performance
Mercedes-Benz S350D is equipped with a 3.0 L 2925 cc In-line 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 330PS and maximum torque of 700Nm. On the other hand, the petrol variant Mercedes-Benz S450 comes with a 3.0L 2999 cc In-line 6-cylinder engine which produces a power of 367PS and a peak torque of 500Nm.
The S-class 2021 is the epitome of luxury and not really meant for speed. However, this time, Mercedes-Benz has claimed that the S-class sedan will perform really good when needed.
Further, both the variants come with a 9-speed transmission automatic gearbox. While the diesel variant can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 6.4 seconds, the petrol variant takes 5.1 seconds to do the same. Not bad!
The Mercedes-Benz S-class 2021 has AIRMATIC suspension in the front and air suspension in the rear. Further, the S-class 2021 features electric steering with 19-inch radial alloy wheels.
Safety features of Mercedes-Benz S-class 2021
The S-class is laden with premium safety features. Some of the safety features are:

- Front and rear parking sensors
- A 360-degree camera for parking
- Electronic stability control
- Tyre pressure monitor
It has safety features added for rear passengers as well. The S-class has frontal facing airbags behind the front seats that protect the rear passengers from head and neck injuries.
Further, the advanced safety features include active parking assistant with PARKTRONIC, Pedestrian protection with the active bonnet, Driving Assistance package, Active distance assistant DISTRONIC, and Car-to-X Communication (warned by marking on the navigation map). On safety, the S-class has a good score.
